Policyholder Discounts & Premium Savings

Did you know that Southern Oak has so many different ways to save on your premium? We offer a variety of premium discounts and coverage options that you don’t want to miss out on. Discuss the options below with your agent to see if you qualify for even more discounts on your policy premium.

Hurricane Mitigation Discounts

Discounts on your home insurance premium are available for features that protect your home from wind damage caused by major storms. Southern Oak’s system intuitively applies some of these discounts based on the year built, but it’s always a good idea to discuss ALL potential discounts your home may qualify for with your agent. These discounts:

  • Apply only to the Wind portion of your policy premium
  • Are not offered for mobile homes

Your agent can help review your policy and property details to advise on how to qualify for additional discounts Southern Oak’s system may not automatically include based on year built.

If your home was built on or after January 1, 2002, you automatically receive a premium discount as your home was built under Florida Building Code (FBC) standards.  Additional wind mitigation discounts are offered for:

  • Opening protection devices
    • Shutters to protect windows and doors from windborne debris
    • Special impact-resistant windows and doors
  • Roof shape
    • Hip roof (sloped on all four sides like a pyramid)

  • Opening protection devices
    • Shutters to protect windows and doors from windborne debris
    • Special impact-resistant windows and doors
  • Roof shape
    • Hip roof (sloped on all four sides like a pyramid)
